Just under a month ago I did a little life update (which you can read here) and shared the amazing news that as an engagement present to ourselves (another bit of news), we bought a puppy!!!! He is the cutest thing ever and has completely taken over my life for the past two weeks, so I thought whilst I had a spare 5 minutes I’d sit down and write a post so you can all get to know him a little more.
First things first, his name is Rodney, he is a cream Goldendoodle, which is a cross between a golden retriever and a poodle and he is currently 12 and a half weeks old. We have always said that we wanted a dog when we moved into our own place and we’ve always loved the look of Goldendoodles. They’re so cute, fluffy, they don’t malt at all and they’re very friendly dogs – perfect for when we eventually start a family. We are also ‘Only Fools and Horses’ fans too (if you couldn’t already tell) and loved the name Rodney for a dog. Some people have joked about it, but we love the name and thats all that matters really.
Due to the breed of dog we wanted, we knew we’d end up waiting months possibly even years to find one to adopt rather than buy, so we did end up buying him privately. I’ve seen all the stories about private selling and puppy farms etc, so was very wary but we were very lucky. He came from a very loving family home, who had only bred their dogs this time (and weren’t planning on doing it again), they sent us pictures and videos of him every week, they paid for all his jabs and flea gel and paid for him to be micro chipped in our names. She even gave us some blankets that smelt of Rodney’s mum and dad and two weeks worth of food. So although buying isn’t always the best idea when it comes to animals, we we’re very lucky in this case.
Two and a half weeks later and he’s settled in so well. My partner and I both love him very much and when we’re not working, all our attention is on him. He’s spoilt rotten. He loves playing with all his toys, licking our feet and faces and he bloody loves his food. He’s just mastered the stairs which is so cute, watching his little bum shuffle up and down and we can finally take him out for walks. He’s only been in our lives for a short amount of time but we both love him so much already! Make sure you all follow me on Instagram @kiirstenjones so you can keep up to date with him and watch our funny stories.
If anyone is thinking about buying a puppy through a private seller, I’d 100% recommend doing your research first. Make sure you view the place first, ask lots of questions, constantly ask for updates, be aware of how many other dogs are there and once again, make sure you do your research!!!!
