I can’t believe I’m even writing this but George is 12 weeks old already. Time is certainly flying by. It only feels like I was writing my birth story a few weeks ago and now we’re here. He’s changed so much over the last few weeks so I thought i’d share with you how well he’s doing.
Being a premature baby, I had to prepare myself for him to not meet his milestones as maybe a full term baby would. It’s really hard knowing that but he is doing SO well.
Lets start off with his weight. He was born a tiny 4lbs 4oz. He didn’t even fit in tiny baby clothes properly. We had him weighed this week and he’s now 9lbs 11oz!!!! That’s a weight gain of 5lbs 7oz which is incredible. I’m so proud of him.
When he was born he drank SMA premature milk as he was fed through a tube for a few days. He then went onto expressed breast milk as he wouldn’t latch onto me as his mouth was so small. Then after 4 weeks we went onto SMA formula milk and he’s been loving it. He suffers with a little reflux now and again but other than that its clearly been doing the job.
Clothes he’s just about fitting into his 0-3 months stuff. Thats also mainly for the length. We’ve realised he’s quite long so hopefully will be tall like his Daddy. With the way he’s growing though, I don’t think it’ll be long before he starts fitting into his 3-6 months clothes.
George isn’t the biggest fan of tummy time, he tends to get frustrated and starts crying but he does love his play mat and his bouncer. He lifts his head up loads whilst you’re holding him and is quite strong. He’s a very wriggly baby as well. Always moving about.
He’s started to smile at us loads, which makes me super happy. It’s literally the cutest thing ever. He’s also quite a chilled out happy baby. Only really cries when he’s hungry and I haven’t got to him in time, so I’m glad about that. Happy baby, happy Mum.
Recently he’s discovered his own voice and likes making loud noises. It’s so cute and I always try having a conversation with him. Also makes me wonder and excited for what his voice is going to sound like when he starts talking properly.
I have been using the app ‘The Wonder Weeks’ which has been great for keeping an eye on what leaps George is going through and when. If I feel like he’s not the same in a day I tend to check the app and normally it’s because he’s going through a leap etc. I’d highly recommend it so you can keep track. You can check it out here.
He doesn’t quite sleep through the night yet either. We’re getting there but still a work in progress. He does give us a good 5/6 hours after his last feed in the evening before waking up and wanting another feed so not too bad. Hopefully won’t be long until he’s sleeping through!
I’m super proud to be George’s mum and I’m so happy he’s doing really well. His progress is amazing and he’s super happy most the time so I’m really pleased with how everything is going.
