A few of days ago George turned 4 months old. I know I say this every time but I can not believe he’s 4 months already! Time is just really flying by isn’t it? Anyways, he’s progressed so much since he was 12 weeks old that I thought I’d update you with everything he’s doing now.
Yassss we are so lucky that from about 3 months old he’s started to sleep through. He normally goes down around 8/9ish and sleeps through until 7am!!! Winning for us all, except I was so used to him waking through the night, I now have to get used to sleeping through again.
In A Routine
I was super worried that I wouldn’t be able to get George into a routine, but without realising, he kind of just picked one himself. I didn’t want to be too strict with him, so I just let him do his thing every day. Then realised it’s the same thing every day.
- He usually wakes up at 7am and has a bottle.
- Plays, sleeps and eats a few times throughout the day.
- Around 7/8pm he goes in the bath (he loves the bath)
- After the bath he has his last bottle then into bed.
His routine works really well right now and even worked well whilst we went back to Wales. I’m super happy he’s in one now and glad I was quite relaxed about it and let him pick it.
Smiling And Giggling
It is the cutest thing seeing him smile and giggle. He is such a smiley baby. Always smiling in the mornings and he loves having a giggle especially with Dave. We’ve started doing “row row row your boat” with him and rocking him back and forth and he absolutely loves it. It’s so cute seeing the things he enjoys.
Rolling Over And Tummy Time
He hated tummy time a few months ago. Would scream the place down the minute we put him on his front. He does seem to enjoy it a bit more now. George has also started to roll over, so he does more tummy time now as as soon as he’s finished his nap, he tends to roll over onto his tummy.
For a baby he has very strong head control. In fact, when people hold him they often tell us how strong he is (and how much of a wriggler he is). We tend to sit him up whilst he’s on our knee and hold his sides and he sits up and controls his head quite well too. Not as good control with his head whilst doing tummy time but we’re getting there.
So just over the past week or so, we’ve noticed he’s started drooling and chewing his fingers a lot more. Although they are signs for his development, he’s started to get flushed cheeks and is a lot more irritable. He’s also started waking up earlier now (which could be signs of the 4 month sleep regression) but also down to him teething. Really hoping a tooth comes through soon for him. He’s normally such a happy baby so its hard seeing him get upset a lot more.
We also now started giving him baby porridge. We bought the one he can have from 4 months old just to start those taste buds going. It’s so funny. I think more of it ends up on him rather than in him but he enjoys doing it and thats all that matters.
Although time is going so fast, it’s now my favourite time of the year so I’m excited to see what the next 4 months bring us. And I can’t wait for George’s first Christmas.
